Women in Federal Law Enforcement, Inc. was incorporated in 1999 as a 501(c)(6) non-profit corporation to serve as a professional organization for women and men in federal law enforcement. It is an outgrowth of the former Inter-agency Committee on Women in Federal Law Enforcement (ICWIFLE) that was created in 1978 and co-sponsored by the U. S. Departments of Justice and Treasury.

The WIFLE Foundation, Inc. was incorporated in 2006 as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, is the educational entity providing for the Annual Leadership Conference, the Scholarship Program, research and other programs. The WIFLE Scholarship Fund, administered by the WIFLE Foundation, Inc., provides scholarships to students pursuing educational opportunities in law enforcement related fields.

WIFLE Founders

In 1977, the Interagency Committee for Women in Federal Law Enforcement (ICWIFLE) was launched by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Treasury to recruit and retain more women in Federal law enforcement. ICWIFLE operated through June 1999 when the organization was formally incorporated as Women in Federal Law Enforcement, Inc. (WIFLE) by which the organization is known to this day.
